DTS Programming. Reference to TransferLoginsTask
I'm working on a C# application that uses the DTS object library via COM
interop. Until now it has been working nicely. Now I would like to get a
reference to what it seems a special task category: TransferLogin,
TranferJobs, etc.
The CustomTaskId I'm getting from those tasks are
OMWCustomTasks.OMWTransferLogins and similar. I can't find the definitions
for those objects. I'm referencing in my project custtask.DLL and dtspkg.DLL
.
Any info on this would be appreciated.
Regards
JoseHi Jos,
How odd, from my front-end app (Vb 6) I can see perfectly this task
instantiating dtspkg.dll
"DTSTask_OMWCustomTasks.OMWTransferLogins_1"
This task own three properties: All logins, Description, Name
Current location: Alicante (ES)

I can get the task through PackageClass.Tasks collection too.
What I would like to do is to get a typed reference to that task. This is
what I'm doing with other kind of tasks:
DTS.SendMailTask myTask = (DTS.SendMailTask)task.CustomTask;
This way I should be able to get not only the AllLogins property but the
source and destination servers info.

It contains the interface definitions. Browsing the properties of
OMWTransferLogins is not enough to get, for example, connection info. It is
retrieved calling a function.
Anyway thanks for your help.

dts parameters, more values in one parameter
hy all,
i'm using the object transform data task from a server (where i'm not dbo) to another server (where i'm dbo).
i'm getting data from a table. i need to select just some records from this table. i need to use a query like this one below...
select * from {table_name} where operationedate in ('20070101', '20070205', '20060524')
... cause everytime i run the dts the operationdate field must be filtered on different date.
so i tried to use the parameter from a global variables. i've tried lots of things but everytime i failed.
i used to try:
select * from {table_name} where operationedate in (?)
but it doesnt work!
any one can understand what i try to explain and even help me?
bye

Have you tried using a SSIS variable with an expression to build query dinamically?
There are a lot of post about it. You would need the set the EvaluateAsExpression porperty of the variable as TRUE and then build the expression. The expression will use another variable that has the coma delimited list of values with the dates you care about.
|||Build two variables: varInClause (string) & varSQLStatement (string)
For the value of varInClause, you can type your dates including the quotes and commas: '20070101','20070205',...
Set EvaluateAsExpresstion to true on the varSQLStatement variable. In the expressions box, type this as your expression:
"select * from table_name where operationdate in (" + @.{User::varInClause} + ")"
Then, use the variable, varSQLStatement, in your OLE DB source.
|||thank you very much for answered so soon
but maybe i'm still in trouble
i forgot you to say i'm working in SQL Server 2000
i think that is possible to use SSIS only in SQL Server 2005
i'm right or not?
bye
nicola
|||Oh, well, that is a very important piece of information because this is not a DTS forum. If you're working with DTS, you need to post that question on the DTS newsgroup.http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.sqlserver.dts?lnk=srg|||
thank you very much
i'm sorry for time you loose with my problem

DTS package failing with Object required WScript
I have the following error when I try to execute a DTS package.
All the package is doing, is a bit of WScript to map a drive (need it for other packages), so:
Function Main()
Dim WshNetwork
Set WshNetwork = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network")
WshNetwork.RemoveNetworkDrive "S:"
WshNetwork.MapNetworkDrive "S:", "\\myserver\folder1\folder2\folder3\folder4"
Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Success
End Function
If I copy it out to a .vbs file and execute it logged in as the SQL Agent profile, it works. Execute the package under a job, or just execute it, it fails with the above error.
Any ideas?
This is a SSIS forum, not DTS! Try microsoft.public.sqlserver.dts, you're more likely to get help there.

|||WScript object is specific to wscript.exe host application (that runs .VBS files), it is not part of VBScript language, so you can't use it in DTS scripts.I think just CreateObject (without "wscript.") should work as well, but I don't know VBScript. You may try VBScript or DTS newsgroups to get better answer.|||
Sussed it. If I use:
Set WshNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network")
It works fine
DTS Package Error
I created a DTS package and got the following error:
There is already an object named 'DF_tblTelica_DateEntered' in the database.
could not create constraint. See previous errors.
Is there a table, query or stored procedure that I can use to find this type
of information?
Thanks in advance,
sck10Hi Sck10,
From your descriptions, I understood that you will meet the error saying
object 'DF_tblTelica_DateEntered' has exists when creating DTS packages.
Have I understood you? Correct me if I was wrong.
Based on my scope, it seems you have created an object named
'DF_tblTelica_DateEntered'. Have you done this? Try to use the following
SELECT statement to find whether it really exists in your database.
SELECT OBJECT_NAME(parent_obj)
FROM sysobjects WHERE name = 'DF_tblTelica_DateEntered'
SELECT *
FROM sysobjects WHERE name = 'DF_tblTelica_DateEntered'
If you do find it, make sure it was useless and then drop it
If you do not find it, please show me you detailed steps about creating
that DTS package. More detailed information, I believe, will make us closer
to the resolution.
Thank you for your patience and corperation. If you have any questions or
concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are here to be of assistance!

Dts object not visible in my DataFlow ScriptComponent
I am trying to set the TaskResult in my DataFlow ScriptComponent, but the Dts object is not visible.
Dts.TaskResult =Dts.Results.Failure
The above line works fine in my EventHandler script, but the Dts object seems to be out of scope when I try to use it from my Dataflow.
One thing I have noticed is that my DataFlow ScriptComponent inherits from 'UserComponent'
I have tried adding Microsoft.SqlServer.ScriptTask reference, but can not see it in the reference list - Strange?
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Paul.
Try these two links I think he covered what you need but your problem could be getting your data from DLL instead of a file which makes it simple. There are 40 articles on SSIS by the same writer so spend time with his tutorials. Hope this helps.

DTS invalid object name error

I looked it up in TechNet and said it had something to do with the order of
dependent objects (e.g. tables) and that it could be resolved with SP3. I
have SP3 on both the laptop and server. The only difference is that the
laptop is the Developers Edition and the Server is Standard Edition.
Any ideas how to resolve/fix this error? Thanks.

dts in 2005
i have plenty of dts packages in 2005. I want to delete all of them.
However when i delete one of them, the drill down list in the object explorer expands back up....is this suppose to happen or it is a feature fro sp1?
It is very annoying though. i hope they fix it.

DTS Import Text File Replacement - too many errors with DTS
some are 2 or 3 million rows. if there's an invalid row (can't find
row delimiter or column delimiter) sometimes DTS will crash and stop the
import... it even does it if I try to import it from the GUI, and going
into DTS tasks and messing with the errors rows, etc.
So, I am looking for a better way to batch import... can't use bulk
insert because of field qualifiers... any ideas? any 3rd party object i
can use to quickly import a large file?
i using c#, btw.
thanks
EdDid you look at the bcp utility? It ain't pretty, but for brute force,
it is hard to beat.|||Bulk insert and bcp both can use format file (i.e. you can specify your
custom terminator), batch size, and allowable max error. You should check
them out.
